PRESIDENT-ELECT
Position Summary:
Assist the President in overseeing all the activities of the chapter. In the
absence of the President, perform all the Presidential responsibilities.
Coordinates certification efforts in the chapter.

The members of the chapter
The Chapter President
Responsibilities:
- Perform all special
projects as assigned by the President.
- Upon request, assist all
officers in performing their responsibilities.
- Maintains accurate and
updated job descriptions for all board positions.
- Assists with the
nomination committee process in surfacing new Chapter Board Directors.
- Attend (and preside
over, if necessary) all monthly membership and Board of Directors meetings.
- Participate in the
development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategy planning
for the chapter.
- Assists the President in
the completion of the CAP, targeting activity and goals towards the attainment
of Superior Merit Award status.
- Represent the chapter in
the Human Resources community.
- Coordinates
certification efforts to increase the number of chapter members who are
certified PHR/SPHR by the Human Resource Certification Institute. Encourages
members to become certified and re-certified.
- Identifies ways to
recognize newly certified and re-certified members.
- Provides information
about certification to members including any changes in re-certification
requirements, exam policies, cost of exam, etc.
- Maintains communication
with the State Council Certification Director and the HRCI staff as needed.
Requirements:
- Must be an SHRM member
in good standing.
- PHR/SPHR Certification
preferred.
- Be willing and able to
move into the Chapter President role the following year.
Objectives & Metrics:
- Attends a minimum of six
out of ten general membership program meetings.
- Attends a minimum of six
out of ten Board of Director meetings.
- Makes announcements
several times per year about benefits of certification and upcoming study
groups and testing at membership meetings.
- Attends the annual SHRM
Volunteer Leadership Training program.
- Prepares and submits
articles about certification for chapter newsletter several times per year.
