PROGRAM CHAIR
Position Summary:
Oversee the needs of the program year, selecting topics
and speakers for monthly programs of broad interest to chapter members.
Responsible To:
The Chapter President
The members of the chapter
The chapter Board of Directors
Responsibilities:
- Lead the coordination to
select topics and speakers for monthly programs in order to provide
information on topics of broad interest to chapter members.
- Coordinate efforts with
other Chapter Board of Directors to best serve the membership.
- Oversee the scheduling
and logistics of the monthly meetings, acting as liaison between speaker and
conference center for technology and equipment requirements.
- Identifies and secures
speakers and maintains contact with speakers prior to engagement.
- Provides program details
to Board of Directors for publication in newsletter and website.
- Introduces speakers at
monthly meetings, using pre-obtained bios.
- Manages the program
evaluation process.
- Manages the development
and distribution of the brochures and promotional material for annual May
Seminar.
- Participates in the
development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning
for the chapter , targeting goals and activities that towards the attainment
of Superior Merit Award status..
Requirements:
- Must be an SHRM member
in good standing elected by the chapter membership.
- Be elected from the
current year’s Chapter membership by its voting members no later than November
of each year.
Position Objectives &
Metrics:
- Attends at minimum six
out of ten general membership program meetings.
- Attends at minimum six
out of ten Board meetings.
- Reviews program
evaluations for feedback for future events and prepares evaluation report for
each month’s Board of Directors meetings.
- Sends a thank you letter
to the speaker with compiled evaluation results the day following the board
meetings.
- Completes the May
Seminar brochure by March, for distribution to all members 4 weeks prior to
seminar.
- Secures initial speak
commitments in July.
- Develops and sends press
releases on program presentations to local media sources at least two weeks
prior to each meeting.
